 Plein Air Painting Competition


Where:  Burlington, Iowa
When:  August 9-15, 2026
Who: Open to all plein air painters 






Current details:
  • Painters have all week to paint, they are not required to paint every day. They may paint anywhere within the city limits of Burlington, IA.
    • Entry fee is $30  ENTRY FEE PRICE WILL INCREASE TO $45 STARTING AUGUST 1, 2026.

  • We must limit this event to 30 artists. The first 30 paid registrants will be accepted and a waiting list will be compiled in case of any cancellations. 
  • Check in and stamping will take place at Community Field each morning from 7-9AM. The address is 2712 Mt. Pleasant St. If you stamp all  of your materials on your first day you do not need to check in again.
  • Competition ends at 1PM on August 15, 2026.
  • Reception begins at 5PM at the Harry & Virginia Murray Gallery on the SCC Campus in West Burlington. Purchase award patrons will have early access. 
  • First place is $1,000
  • Second is $750
  • Third $500
  • Honorable Mention $250

  • If you're in need of lodging there are several choices in the area. If you are needing camping space please e-mail IAart319@gmail.com as we have access to a site for a few campers this year
